Western Drive Santa Cruz Overlay Project

Post Date:08/21/2014

The road improvement project on Western Drive between Highway 1 and Meder Street includes concrete repairs, asphalt pavement recycling and a new asphalt overlay with new striping.

The estimated construction dates are August 25 -28, 2014 for the asphalt recycling and September 2-3 for the asphalt overlay.  Working hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  All road and pedestrian access will be kept open as much as possible, however, expect single lane closures with one-way traffic control and a pilot car.

Street parking will be impacted.  “No Parking” signs will be posted 72 hours prior to the actual days of work.  The signs will indicate the date and times during which parking is prohibited.  ANY CARS PARKED WITHIN THE POSTED AREA ON THESE DAYS WILL BE TOWED.  When the work has been completed in each area, the parking prohibition will end and all signs will be removed.  There will be flagmen and other workers directing traffic to ensure the safe passage of all citizens and the safety of our workers.  Expect some delays, and choose alternate routes, if possible.  Emergency vehicle access will be accommodated at all times.

Should there be delays due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, a revised notice will be sent out with the updated work dates and signs will be updated to reflect these changes.

The City of Santa Cruz Public Works Inspector will be on site for the project in addition to the contractor (Graniterock Company).  If there are any questions or concerns, please contact either the City of Santa Cruz (831) 420-5160 or Graniterock at (831) 768-2700.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this work may cause and look forward to the successful completion of this project.
