SANTA CRUZ —  The City of Santa Cruz  has begun the East Cliff Emergency Repair Project to remove a portion of a damaged concrete sack wall and relocate 150 feet of failing handrail, sidewalk and sanitary sewer line away from the coastal bluff along the south side of East Cliff Drive near Alhambra Avenue. Traffic and parking are impacted near the project during construction which is expected to be completed in early June.

A Coastal Permit has been issued for this project which is funded by the City’s Capital Improvement Program for approximately $150,000 and the Sewer Fund for $150,000.

Any concerns or questions may be addressed to project managers Steve Wolfman at (831) 420-5428 and Desiree Douville at (831) 420-5183.

A construction tour of this project is offered free-of-charge to the public in celebration of National Public Works Week on Monday, May 22, from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. Tour details are available at www.cityofsantacruz.com/publicworks.
