Evening Housing Study Session
7pm, Sept. 12, 2017- City Council Chambers
Join us! The study session will be held at 7:00PM in City Council Chambers at 809 Center Street. The meeting can also be viewed live on Community TV, channel 25.
The Santa Cruz City Council has identified housing as a key strategic goal for their 2017-2019 workplan. The September 12 meeting will provide context for the city’s housing crisis with a regional and statewide overview of housing, a review of prior City policy decisions regarding housing, the housing principles embodied in the city’s General Plan, definitions of affordable housing and who qualifies locally, and the various types of affordable housing that is available.
The September 12 meeting is the second in a series of meetings the council will hold this fall to address the local housing crisis. On June 27, prior to the council’s July recess, the council received a presentation on basic demographics and a profile of housing in Santa Cruz.
City Council members want to hear from residents about their housing experiences and ideas for addressing housing issues. The City has a calendar of opportunities for community members to share their thoughts, including new “Conversation Kits” that provide residents with the tools to host conversations with friends or family at home.
