Upper Park Road Slide Repair Project Begins May 21
Updated May 25, 2018
The Upper Park Road Slide Repair Project began on Monday, May 21, with expected conclusion by Aug. 1, 2018.
Contractor Conley General Engineering has set k-rail; installed temporary signals above and below the site; mobilized equipment and delivered material to a staging area allowing excavation work to begin along the failed section of the roadway.
This excavation will continue until an elevation where the tiebacks can be drilled has been reached. There will also be some clearing and grubbing work that will be needed for the driller to be able to swing their equipment out over the outboard side of the site. The tieback driller is set to be on site the week of May 29, and that work will likely continue until the week of 4 June.
Please note: the temporary traffic signal system will need to be adjusted to most efficiently handle the flow of traffic, and this will be an iterative process. Delays will still be encountered until the system is
properly set up. The City appreciates the public's patience.
After excavation and grading, the drillers will come in to drill the piers for the placment of the steel soldier piles as well as the tiebacks. This will be followed by placement of the piles, tiebacks, walers, etc., and structure backfill and construction of a drainage system. Any traffic delays during this later phase of the project will be noted here when they are known.
Any questions or concerns may be addressed to Project Manager and Senior Civil Engineer Joshua Spangrud at email@example.com.
