On August 14th, the City Council created the Charter Amendment Committee, tasking the Committee with reviewing and making recommendations on potential changes to the City Charter in several specific areas. The Committee will be comprised of thirteen community members, with seven selected directly by individual Councilmembers and six at-large members appointed by the City Council through this application process. Given the scope of what the Council has directed the Committee to review, and the anticipated time required to appropriately engage the community on potential changes to the charter, staff anticipates that the Committee will require approximately one year of monthly meetings for research, deliberation and community outreach before it will bring final recommendations to the City Council.
Applications are due on
Wednesday, September 19th.
