SANTA CRUZ, Calif. — The City of Santa Cruz has scheduled an emergency sewer repair at the intersection of Laurel and Chestnut streets with traffic impacts on Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, during the construction hours of 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. in order to access a sewer manhole in the middle of the intersection.
Construction during this time requires that the traffic signal be operating in flashing red and all vehicles must stop before proceeding with caution. Certain traffic movements will be affected at the intersection: no left turns southbound from Laurel Street onto Chestnut Street; and right turns only northbound from Chestnut Street onto Laurel Street.
Travelers are advised to take alternate routes to avoid delays and travel cautiously through the intersection.
Parking will be restricted during construction hours as follows: the south side of Laurel Street, east of Chestnut Street; the east side of Chestnut Street between Laurel and Maple streets; around the area of the Maple/Chestnut intersection.
The City apologizes for any inconvenience this construction work may cause and appreciates the public’s cooperation. Any concerns or questions may be addressed to Project Manager Ryan Haley, at (831) 420-5309 or RHaley@cityofsantacruz.com.
