SANTA CRUZ, Calif. — Downtown Santa Cruz employees are the focus of the City of Santa Cruz’s expanded Go Santa Cruz program, starting Oct. 1. The City’s Go Santa Cruz promotes the benefits of alternative transportation commute options. Downtown employees who bike, walk, carpool, or bus to work will be eligible for incentives and rewards that encourage alternatives to driving, including:
- Free transit passes
- Free $20 bike locker cards
- Discounted JUMP memberships
- Bike safety trainings
- Carpool incentives
- Carpool ride matching and commute information
The Go Santa Cruz program is part of the City’s ongoing effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and play an active role in addressing climate change. The City is a national leader in reducing single-occupant car trips and has achieved the second highest rate of bike commuting in the U.S.
"With the free transit pass, I'll take public transit instead of paying for parking,” said David L., Cruzio employee. “The Cedar Street parking garage has a two year waiting list for monthly parking permits, so this is a great way to save money commuting!"
To get started with Go Santa Cruz, downtown employees must sign up with the Go Santa Cruz online platform, Cruz511, which offers transit options, trip logging, carpool matching, and bike and walk routing. The incentive prizes can be chosen in the “My Rewards” section.
