Potential Childcare Impact Fee
At the December 10, 2019 City Council meeting, the City Council will discuss the potential adoption of a Childcare Impact Fee.
Join the Council on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 to discuss the potential adoption of a Childcare Impact Fee. The Planning & Community Development department will present a draft ordinance for a Childcare Impact Fee. This is a fee on new nonresidential and residential development that would support new or expanded childcare facilities within the City of Santa Cruz. The County of Santa Cruz recently conducted a nexus study relating to new development and the impacts of childcare services. The potential fee to be adopted would range from $0.68-$1.75 per square foot, depending on use, and would apply to different types of residential and non-residential development within the City of Santa Cruz including, but not limited to, single and multifamily dwellings, office, hotel, retail, and restaurant space.
The agenda for the meeting, plus additional materials such as the staff report will be available three days prior to the meeting on the City Council Meeting page. Written comments can be submitted via email, CityCouncil@cityofsantacruz.com up to 5:00 pm the day before the meeting. The meeting will be held in the City Council Chambers located at 809 Center Street in Santa Cruz. Specific questions regarding this item should be directed to the Planning & Community Development Department at (831) 420-5110.
