Walking Adventure Group

The Walking Adventure Group (WAG) is a walking group for older adults to explore parks, landmarks, and special cultural locations in and around the Santa Cruz County area.

 UPCOMING EVENTS 

All walks begin at 9:30 am from the designated meeting point and are approximately 2 hours unless otherwise noted.

 

April 20: Moon Rocks (Bonny Doon)

Meet at the parking area near the Bonny Doon Fire Station on Martin Road or sign up for the VANPOOL. Vanpool leaves Louden Nelson at 8:45am for this trip. Limited seating. Try to carpool if you can; it is a bit of a drive. We will hike around the sandy trails of the Bonny Doon Ecological Preserve at the base of the amazing Moon Rocks. Easy to moderate terrain.

 

April 27: Historic Home Tour- West Cliff Drive

Meet at Depot Park (119 Center Street) for an informative and interesting tour of some of the historic homes and buildings along West Cliff Drive with local historian Ross Gibson. We will walk from Depot Park up to West Cliff Drive and back. Easy terrain.

 

May 4: Wilder Ranch

Meet at the parking lot inside Wilder Ranch. Please note there is a parking fee ($10/vehicle and $9 seniors over 62) and there is usually not a kiosk attendant--bring exact change. We will hike the trails of Wilder Ranch. Easy to moderate terrain.

 

May 11: TBD

 

May 18: UCSC

Meet at the entrance to the UCSC Farm & Garden (gravel pathway and wooden gates, 1/5 mile up from the parking lot near the entrance to campus). Parking permit for UCSC is $6/vehicle. There is a vanpool for this trip. Limited seating; vanpool leaves Louden Nelson at 9:00am. We will explore the farm trails/ grounds and enjoy vistas of the Bay. Easy to moderate terrain.

 

May 25: University Terrace Park (dog friendly)

Meet at the top of University Terrace Park, on Meder Street between Bay Street and Western Drive. We will hike around the park and trails. Leashed dogs welcome. Easy to moderate terrain.
