The City provides commercial, industrial and institutional refuse pickup one to six days a week, as needed. Containers options include:
- Carts — 20, 32, 64 and 95 gallon
- Containers — 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8 yard
- Roll-off boxes — 10, 15, 20 and 30 yard
- Temporary service — 5 and 10 day temporary service is available for containers and roll-off boxes.
Mandatory Commercial Recycling Assembly Bill (AB341) is the California State mandatory recycling law that went into effect on July 1, 2012. AB341 sets a 75% recycling goal for California by 2020, the most ambitious in the nation. The law originated with the intentions of keeping California at the leading edge of recycling, creating more green jobs and keeping waste out of the landfills. The law requires all businesses that generate four (4) or more cubic yards of garbage per week and multi-family dwellings with five (5) or more units to recycle.
The City provides recycling carts or containers and collection service to refuse customers at no additional cost. Place clean paper, flattened cardboard, glass bottles, aluminum cans, steel cans and plastic bottles, jugs, jars and tubs in your recycling cart or recycling container.

Mandatory Commercial Organics Recycling
Assembly Bill (AB 1826), requires businesses to recycle their organic waste on and after April 1, 2016, depending on the amount of waste they generate per week. This law also requires local jurisdictions across the state to implement organic waste recycling programs to divert organic waste generated by businesses, including multi-family residential dwellings that consist of five or more units (please note, however, that multifamily dwellings are not required to have a food waste diversion program). Organic waste includes food waste, green waste, landscape and pruning waste, nonhazardous wood waste, and food-soiled paper waste that is mixed in with food waste. The law phases in the mandatory recycling of commercial organics over time. The minimum threshold of organic waste generation by businesses decreases over time, which means an increasingly greater proportion of the commercial sector will be required to comply. On April 1, 2016 businesses with eight or more cubic yards per week of food waste begin to divert organics. On January 1, 2017 businesses with 4 cubic yards per week are required to divert organic material. The next tier begins on January 1, 2019 with businesses that generate 4 cubic yards of solid waste per week. And by January 1, 2020 all businesses that generate 2 cubic yards of solid waste per week will be added to the program.
