Mission:

As directed in Santa Cruz Municipal Code (SCMC) Section 9.84.060, the Committee is charged with overseeing the implementation of SCMC Chapter 9.84 – “Lowest Law Enforcement Priority Policy Ordinance.” 

In the June 5, 2018 election, Measure T was passed, which amended the Santa Cruz Municipal Code to repeal Measure K, a 2006 ballot measure that requires Santa Cruz police officers and other law enforcement officers in the City of Santa Cruz to make enforcement of laws pertaining to the distribution, sale, cultivation or use of marijuana by adults their lowest law enforcement priority.
