Apply online with the following attachments at time of application. Note:  Applications will be dated as of the date that all three required attachments are submitted.

  1. A valid State of California Paramedic License; licenses from other states or National Registry will not substitute.
  2. Current (within 1 year of recruitment opening date) CPAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test) card. Please go to http://www.cffjac.org/go/jac/cpat/ for schedule and registration information.
  3. A current (within 30 days of recruitment opening date)State of California Department of Motor Vehicles driving record report (3 or 10 year). Official driving records will be accepted from other states; the form must be official/verified and current (within 30 days).

 

Candidates who also attach proof of possession of the following may be ranked higher in the screening process:  

__Current ACLS certificate or local agency equivalent (such as Santa Cruz County Resuscitation Course)

__Current PALS certificate or local agency equivalent (such as Santa Cruz County Resuscitation Course)

__Current CPR certificate

__Firefighter Endorsement for California Class C driver’s license

__Hazardous Materials First Responder certification (FRO)

__Confined Space Awareness certification  

__S-130 certification (Firefighter Training)

__S-190 certification (Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior)

__ (SFM) State Fire Marshall Firefighter I (or II) certificate 

__ Bilingual ability to speak both English and Spanish

__One year or more of full time Paramedic experience

__One year or more of full time Firefighter experience

__AA/AS degree or higher from an accredited college or university

__Ability to swim 1000 yards in less than 20 minutes in the ocean

__Graduate of a CA State Fire Marshal accredited Fire Academy
