FOPAR awards over $25,000 in scholarships annually . More than $14,000 is awarded just for the summer session. Scholarships are awarded to applicants based on a variety of factors including number of applicants, program costs, needs and others variables.
Families may qualify for consideration for scholarships based on financial need if their stated income meets the attached FOPAR Scholarship Income Eligibility Scales. Families NOT meeting the Income Eligibility Guidelines may qualify if they describe a special circumstance resulting in financial hardship. Such situations may include but are not limited to, loss of property, loss of employment, loss of business, death of a family member, etc.
The winter-spring application period starts Monday, December 10 and closes on January 2, 2019. Award recipients will be notified by email on Friday, January 4, 2019.
Applications can be submitted to 323 Church Street, Santa Cruz, CA, 95060. FILL OUT FORMS COMPLETELY. City address verification is required. Incomplete applications may be disqualified.
You will be notified by email if you are approved for a scholarship.
A credit will be applied to your Parks and Recreation account for the amount awarded.
The Parks and Recreation Department will not hold a space in your desired activity. All registration is first-come, first-served.
Winter-spring scholarship credit must be used by April 5, 2019. The remaining scholarship balance will be deleted from your account and the funds returned to Friends of Parks and Recreation for future scholarships.
