April 18: Glenwood Open Space Preserve (dog friendly)
Meet at the Land Trust's Glenwood Open Space Preserve parking lot, at approximately 350 Glenwood Drive, Scotts Valley (a dirt lot just north of the intersection of Glenwood Drive and Kerry Court). We will walk northward from the lot (about 0.5 miles) to the Preserve entrance and hike several of the single-track dirt trail loops in the 166 acres of the Preserve. We will hike through varying habitats including grassland, riparian and oak woodland, and also enjoy sweeping views of Scotts Valley. Leashed dogs welcome. Easy to moderate terrain with a few steep stretches. Walking stick recommended.
April 25: Nisene Marks State Park (dog friendly)
Meet at the parking lot just past the kiosk at the entrance to Nisene Marks State Park, Aptos Creek Road, Aptos. There is a VANPOOL available for this trip. Limited seating; sign up and meet at Louden Nelson Community Center before 9am. Vanpool leaves Louden at 9:00am. For those not in the vanpool, parking is $8 ($7 seniors over 62) per car. If you aren't in the vanpool but want to carpool in personal vehicles, please meet at Louden Nelson Community Center before 9am. We will hike through the redwoods of Nisene Marks State Park. Easy to moderate terrain. Leashed dogs welcome.
