Public involvement is essential to reducing water pollution. Pollution is often easily prevented with a little extra effort. For over 15 years now the City has focused on reducing water pollution from auto repair shops, other types of vehicle service facilities, and food service facilities. Business owners are educated and required to implement the pollution prevention methods in the City's Best Management Practices (BMPs) Food Service Facilities and Vehicle Service Facilities.
The City Public Works Department recognizes local vehicle service and food service facilities that have adopted these BMPs to keep pollutants out of our sewer and storm drain system with Clean Ocean Business awards.
