As a five-year City employee, Public Works Associate Engineer Josh Spangrud has performed his duties diligently and with great dedication to the Santa Cruz community. Josh has managed approximately $18 million in the design and construction of infrastructure projects Citywide. His recent accomplishments include the San Lorenzo Bike Pedestrian Bridge, $3.4 million in stimulus paving projects and the first modern roundabout in the region. He volunteered to assist the Santa Cruz Harbor in its Tsunami rebuilding project by coordinating its pile and dock reconstruction project, all while completing his regular City duties.
Josh is a 12-year Santa Cruz resident, having moved here from Providence, Rhode Island. Prior to joining the City, he worked on heavy construction projects throughout central California, including the San Jose Airport. He received his Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from San Jose State two years ago. He is married to a teacher and has three children. They love to go on road trips, camp, visit the beach and surf.
