Summary

This Ordinance amends the table in Section 10.60.010 to establish a posted speed limit of 30 mph on two additional streets: N. Branciforte Avenue, between Water and Fairmount and Ocean Street between Broadway and Water Street.

This ordinance would adopt additional regulations for surf schools obtaining a permit for teaching surf lessons in Cowell Beach Waters.

This ordinance would simplify and expand the exemption from paying business license taxes for occasional transactions to include all persons engaging in business during no more than five calendar days in any fiscal year ending June 30.

Summary

This ordinance amends certain sections of the Santa Cruz Municipal Code and adds certain new sections to the Santa Cruz Municipal Code pertaining to dogs in the City of Santa Cruz. Currently dogs are prohibited in downtown Santa Cruz. The ordinance establishes a three-month trial period, through November 30, 2011, in which dogs, subject to certain conditions and requirements would be allowed in downtown Santa Cruz during daylight hours.

A uncodified emergency ordinance of the City of Santa Cruz determining that the City shall the comply with the provisions of Part 1.9 of Division 24 of the Health and Safety Code, as enacted by AB 1X 27, thereby permitting the continued existence and operation of the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Santa Cruz.

Summary

This ordinance establishes a second tier retirement benefit formula for local safety members entering membership for the first time in a safety classification after the effective date of this amendment to the contract. It decreases the benefit from the current 3% @ 50 formula to 3% @ 55 and changes the final compensation calculation from “single highest year” to “three-year average.”

This ordinance amends Section 16.08.020 of the Santa Cruz Municipal Code and adds a new Section 16.08.065 regarding graywater systems to facilitate residential graywater use as allowed under Chapter 16A of the California Plumbing Code and to establish notification, plan review, and inspection requirements for graywater systems.
