Alushta-Santa Cruz 25 years logoSANTA CRUZ, CA -- The Santa Cruz City Council will officially greet a teachers delegation from the city's sister city of Alushta, Ukraine in a brief ceremony at the regular Council Meeting on Tuesday, February 12 at 3:00 pm in Council Chambers. Alushta principal Tamara Sitenko, and teachers Natalia Leontieva and Tatiana Krylovo are in Santa Cruz for a 3-week visit to learn about our schools, culture and lifestyle.

Retired Santa Cruz school teacher Kris Kennedy spent a month participating as an exchange teacher in Alushta classrooms last March and this is the highly anticipated reciprocal visit. While here the delegates will be teaching in Bay View, Gault and Westlake Elementary Schools, meeting with city and school officials, and exploring Santa Cruz and the greater Bay area.

The Santa Cruz Sister Cities Committee is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Santa Cruz-Alushta relationship and connections remain vibrant with social, cultural and business exchanges. Please join us in this latest exchange of ideas and good will! For details, call 831-420-5270.
