The temporary mural will be the second installation at
the Library Downtown Branch, and follows on the heels of last summer’s “Libraries
Inside Out” project, which featured black and white portraits of library

artist JR’s global “Inside Out” public art project. The timing of the project
will compliment First Friday on August 2, 2013, the Church Street Festival, and
the opening of the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music.
“The Church Street Fair is a
celebration of Santa Cruz's creative spirit” explains Cabrillo Festival
Executive Director Ellen Primack, “and the Libraries Inside Out 2012
installation was a perfect complement, bringing energy and vibrancy to the
streetscape during the festivities. We’re thrilled that City Arts and SCPL are
so supportive of efforts to integrate the Downtown Branch façade with First Friday,
Opening Night of the Cabrillo Festival, and the Church Street Fair. We can’t
wait to see this year’s installation!”
