Describe the Event: 

Santa Cruz City Fire Department responded along with Harbor Patrol Vessel to a report of a wind surfer trying to get upright in the water approximately 100’ from shore off of West Cliff Dr. Fire crews arrived at scene to find a windsurfer down in the water trying to make it to shore with his board. Santa Cruz Fire Rescue Swimmers entered the water and assisted him to shore. Harbor Patrol arrived and stood by until all subjects were out of the water. The subject denied having any medical complaint and stated that he had mechanical issues with his boom that prevented him from riding the board. Crews assisted him with carrying his equipment up and to his vehicle.
