Swing, Brazilian and Modern Jazz on Tap for Jazz on Wharf
Posted Date: 3/8/2014 1:00 PM

SANTA CRUZ, CA -- The popular free Jazz on the Wharf is next in a series of events in 2014 to celebrate the Santa Cruz Wharf’s 100th Anniversary. With a beautiful backdrop of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, top jazz musicians perform outdoors and in restaurants on the scenic Santa Cruz Wharf.

Jazz fans can stroll the half-mile wharf and soak up everything from smooth jazz to swing while enjoying panoramic views, shopping, dining and recreation. Newly installed temporary displays in wharf kiosks will give a glimpse of Wharf history and help commemorate 100 years of good times on the Wharf. Commemorative 100th Anniversary T's, sweatshirts, wine and wine glasses will be available to purchase.

Taking the Wharf stage at 11:00 am is the Kuumbwa Jazz Honor Band followed by the Monterey County High School All-Star Combo. From 1:00 pm to  4:00 pm, free live jazz takes place in Wharf restaurants with everything from Wally's Swing World to the Bob Burnett Trio to Jenny O'Leary and the Bets. (See schedule below.) Headlining the Wharf stage at 4:00 pm is the Monterey Bay Jazz Orchestra led by Paul Contos.

Jazz on the Wharf is sponsored by the Santa Cruz Wharf, City of Santa Cruz Parks and Recreation and co-sponsored by the Santa Cruz Sentinel, KCBA TV and KPIG 107.5 FM. Visit, or call 831-420-5273.
