SANTA CRUZ (July 9, 2014) – The City of Santa Cruz Public Works Department will be rehabilitating and resurfacing Western Drive from Mission Street to Meder Street, and La Fonda Avenue from Soquel Avenue to Highway 1. This project commences July 14 and will continue through late September, 2014.

Western Drive sidewalk and ramp improvements are expected to begin the week of July 14 and continue through August. Sidewalks will occasionally be closed during the project. Western Drive paving is expected to begin in August and continue thru late September.

Paving on La Fonda Avenue is expected to begin in early August and will be completed before Harbor High School begins on August 25.

There will be intermittent lane closures and limited on-street parking on Western Drive and La Fonda Avenue during the work week paving process. Traffic and parking will not be impacted on Saturday and Sunday. All driveways in the project area are expected to remain accessible during construction.

The City is working to minimize any inconvenience and appreciates the public’s cooperation and understanding in completing this construction project.
