Describe the Event:
|
The Santa Cruz City fire department responded to a reported fire on the exterior of a residence. The reporting first alarm guard stated that a fire was on the second story deck extending up the outside wall building quickly. Upon the arrival of the fire department, there was fire and dark smoke moving up the exterior wall on the second story of a multi-family residence. Fire crews immediately stretched a hoseline to the second story balcony and extinguished the fire while crews searched the second floor for victims and extension into the attic. No one was home at the time of the fire. The fire started in a potted plant that had discarded cigarettes in it. The fire damage was limited to the exterior siding and eve line. No injuries were reported and the fire was controlled in about 10 minutes.
