Describe the Event: 

Santa Cruz Fire Department responded to a report of 1 adult and 2 children stuck on the cliff edge below Long Marine Lab. Fire crews arrived at scene to find the subjects stuck and used a rope system to make access to the victims. The victims were rescued up the cliff edge by firefighters while a Harbor Patrol Vessel and rescue swimmers stood by in case needed. They were not injured and needed no medical care. The adult was not aware that they would become stuck and unable to proceed up or down. They were approximately 20’ down the 40’ cliff.

Santa Cruz Fire Department, UCSC Fire, Harbor Patrol, State Parks and AMR.

Number of Apparatus:

2- Fire Engines, 1- Ladder Truck, 1- Battalion Chief, 1- Marine Vessel, and 1-Ambulance.

Additional Information: 

People need to be careful along the coastal cliffs. They are dangerous and can be deceiving after descending them and trying to get back up.
