The Junior Ranger program is an outdoor watershed and recreation/education program. Our goal is to heighten your child's awareness of nature, conservation and preservation of the water resources and the watershed ecosystem at Loch Lomond Recreation Area (and beyond). These goals will be accomplished through student observation, ranger-led talks and hikes, hands-on activities, projects, community service, web-based information/activities and award opportunities.
This program is one of many offered by the City of Santa Cruz Water Department to the community at no or low cost. The Junior Ranger Program at the Loch Lomond Recreation Area is designed for all school aged children (up to the age of 14). We encourage you to participate in our programs with you young children.
How you can participate:
- Have your child read and complete our Junior Ranger Workbook (by printing it yourself or available from any of our Rangers).
- Loch Lomond Junior Ranger Workbook
- Have your child answer the quiz questions for their appropriate age group and send the answers back by mail or turn in to a Ranger on duty at Recreation Area.
- By becoming a Junior Ranger your child will receive an official Loch Lomond Junior Ranger button and a Junior Ranger card!
