Mission
The Commission shall be charged with assisting the City of Santa Cruz City Council, herein after referred to as “Council” on matters pertaining to the Central Business Improvement and Parking Districts herein after referred to as the “Districts”. The scope of the Commission’s charge is as follows:
- Advise Council on all matters pertaining to the maintenance and management of the Districts;
- Develop long-range plans and recommendations for providing parking in Districts. Report to Council on their recommendations and conclusions regarding the Districts’ improvements including estimated costs of such recommendations;
- Study traffic problems in the Districts;
- Make recommendations regarding the allocation of funds derived from revenues collected on behalf of the Districts. Such recommendations shall be consistent with state and local law and outstanding bond convenants;
- Perform other functions and duties as may be directed by Council or prescribed or authorized by any city ordinance; and
- Evaluate public and private activities in the Districts and recommend policies and programs to preserve, enhance, and advance the viability and attractiveness of the downtown.
Meetings
Meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of the months of January, March, May, July, and September at 8:30 a.m. in the City Council Chambers, 809 Center Street, Santa Cruz, CA. The regular November meeting is held on the third Thursday of the month at the regular time and place.
Membership
The Commission consists of seven members who are appointed by the City Council.
