Santa Cruz Firefighters responded to a reported wildland fire above the baseball fields in Harvey west park. The call came in at 8:49 P.M. and the reporting party was going to meet the fire department to direct them to the scene. Upon arrival of the first fire department unit, they found a fire 300 yards up the trail near Wagner grove. The fire was 75 feet by 50 feet burning in brush and downed trees. The fire was controlled within 20 minutes as hoselines had to be stretched 400 feet to reach the fire. The fire was originated from a homeless campsite. Crews were on the scene for 1.5 hours to conduct overhaul and secure the perimeter of the fire. Crews were sent in the morning to check for any hot spots and found none.
