Describe the Event: 

At 7:53 P.M. Santa Cruz City Fire responded to a motor home on fire in the area of Mission St. and Fair Ave. Upon arrival crews found a fully engulfed 24 foot motor home parked on Fair Ave. Fire crews were able to control the fire before it damaged a nearby parked vehicle. The fire was caused by a broken fuel pump that the owner was trying to fix. Fumes and gas had spilled in the engine compartment which is inside the motor home and when he tried to start the vehicle it ignited the gas. The owner was unable to extinguish the fire and had to escape out a window. The owner refused any medical attention. The motor home was a total loss. Two engines and Battalion Chief assisted with the extinguishment of the fire.
