City Manager Launches Citywide Blog to Connect with Residents

SANTA CRUZ, CA— The City of Santa Cruz is proud to announce the launch of its citywide blog at Inspired by the response to the City's Police Department blog and encouraged by the positive community feedback that the City has received for its efforts on Facebook and Twitter, the new blog is designed to be a space to highlight the complexities of the City's operations and to feature the work done by its employees, volunteers and partners.

City Manager Martin Bernal authored the first post, laying out how this effort fits into the City's overall community outreach and engagement plan. Future posts will highlight individual workers and teams in the field, ongoing City operations in our many facilities on the Central Coast and the faces behind the programs that we all depend on, from public safety to public works. This site may break news, but will be used mainly to highlight programs and people, while giving City leadership a place to reflect on complex community issues and financial matters.

"The way people are gathering information about their communities has been changing rapidly in the last two decades," Bernal said. "This is one more instance where we are trying to use new communications methods to reach our citizens, however they read their news."
