Describe the Event: 

Santa Cruz Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire with flames seen at the rear of a building on Front St near Soquel Ave. Units arrived at scene to find a fire with a dumpster, recycling containers, and cardboard burning against the rear of a 1 story commercial building. A hose line was extended to the rear and firefighters started to extinguish the fire as the rear window broke out. The exterior fire was extinguished while crews made access to the structure and confirmed that no fire extended into the structure. The interior sustained smoke damage to the kitchen area. The property was turned over to the responsible for the business after a Fire Investigator completed initial findings. No determination of cause has been made at this time.
