Green Business Coordinator

The City of Santa Cruz will recognize eleven local businesses and organizations that have received “Green Business” certification over the past six months at the afternoon City Council meeting of June 11, 2013.

The City of Santa Cruz participates in the regional Monterey Bay Area Green Business Certification Program that was created to assist and recognize businesses and other entities interested in operating in a more environmentally responsible way. In order to become “Green” certified, businesses take measures above and beyond regulatory requirements to reduce their energy and water consumption, minimize paper and other wastes, and utilize environmentally preferable products. We encourage the community to support these businesses in their efforts.

The following businesses and organizations will be recognized at the June 11, 2013 afternoon City Council meeting:

• Santa Cruz Wharf Headquarters
• Santa Cruz Skin Solutions
• Hoffman’s Global Village Café at UCSC
• The Armada Group
• Rope Partner
• The Santa Cruz Weekly, the first newspaper to be certified green in Santa Cruz
• Local Harvest Catering
• Lifestyle Culinary Arts
• Holiday Muffler Service
• Bay View Elementary School, the first public school to be certified green in the City of Santa Cruz
• Segway Santa Cruz
