Describe the Event: 

Santa Cruz Fire Department responded to a confirmed structure fire at the rear of 828 Riverside Ave. Upon arrival crews found a detached shed with a well involved fire inside and tenants advised that no one was inside it. Crews quickly pulled a hoseline and started to extinguish the fire while keeping it from spreading to a nearby detached unit. The shed was full of stored belongings and took firefighters approximately 1 hour to remove and fully extinguish the fire. The fire was investigated and found to be accidental in nature and caused by electrical in the shed. No occupants at the property were displaced.

Santa Cruz Fire and Police Department, Central Fire Protection District and American Medical response.

 

Number of Apparatus:

4- Engines, 1- Ladder Truck, 1- Battalion Chief & 1- AMR Supervisor

 

Number of Firefighters: 

16- Firefighters

Estimated Loss & Save

Approximately $15,000 loss with $5,000 saved to the structure.

Approximately $10,000 loss to contents.

 

Additional Information: 

No injuries reported at this incident.
