Describe the Event:

At 2:10 pm Santa Cruz Fire units responded to a report of two female subjects stuck in a beach cove in the area of Natural Bridges State Beach.  The 911 caller had some difficulty in identifying the location of the subjects.  Once fire units arrived the subjects were located and fire crews were able to scale down a path and make contact with them at the base of the cliff.  Two additional fire crews placed a 35’ extension ladder at the top of the cliff and lowered it down to the beach below. The fire crews were then able to bring both subjects up the ladder to safety where both denied any injuries.  The two subjects stated that they were from out of the area and were unfamiliar with the terrain. The two stated that they  had gone for a walk up the beach to the cove and that is when they noticed the tide came in and they could not return in the direction they came from.
