Describe the Event:

At 2:49 P.M., Santa Cruz City Fire responded to a report of several males trapped on the cliff near Its beach. Upon arrival, fire crews found 5 males at the bottom of the cliff in a pocket cove unable to get out due to the increasing tide. The subjects were contacted and advised to stay on the rocks and that rescue swimmers were going to swim around and make contact with them. All the subjects were uninjured. The fire department deployed 2 lifeguards and 2 fire rescue swimmers on paddle boards to evaluate the subjects. The swell was large at times making for hazardous conditions for rescue personnel. The rescue swimmers made contact and a plan was formed to swim each male out through a tunnel to Its beach. All 5 males were successfully returned to the beach with no injuries. All subjects refused any medical care and were released on their own.
