Describe the Event: 

Santa Cruz Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 309 Gault St. Units arrived at scene to find a 1 story duplex with dark colored smoke coming from the front and corner windows of  1 of the units. No occupants were outside and the front door was locked so crews forced the door and made entry to the unit finding the fire to be located in the garage area that was used as a bedroom. The adjoining unit was evacuated and checked for any fire extension into it and none was found. The fire was knocked down with a hose line and contained to the garage. A search of the residence found no victims inside and a blower was used to remove the smoke inside. The fire was overhauled and fully extinguished by fire crews. The fire was investigated and found to be accidental in nature. The building was turned over to the landlord as no occupants were at scene. Fire crews secured equipment and returned.
