Describe the Event:

At 2:49 PM Santa Cruz Fire was dispatched to an unconfirmed water rescue at West Cliff and Columbia. Santa Cruz Fire units responded along with State Parks and Harbor Patrol. The first on scene engine found a male in his 60’s lying on top of a rock that was 30’ from shore and approximately 15’ high. The subject was clothed and had injuries to his shoulder and head. He told responders that he had fallen into the ocean while fishing and had been on the rock for 1 hour. The subject was cold and unable to move without assistance. Rescue swimmers moved the subject to the Harbor Patrol boat that was standing by. He was transported to Santa Cruz Harbor and then taken by ground ambulance to a trauma center in Santa Clara County.
