City of Santa Cruz Parks & Recreation is bringing the fun to you with the following FREE activities!
Agents of Discovery
Discover and learn while exploring your local park through the Agents of Discovery app. Missions will be set up at three different neighbor parks highlighting local flora and fauna as well as environmental steward information. The app is free to download and use, no login required. Starting off the month by featuring Arana Gulch and Harvey West! Check back as the parks will change throughout the month!
Teen Center - Design Your Own Swag! - July 13-19
Put your own spin on this plain white T-shirt or pair of kicks! Show us your creativity and personal style by designing your own swag. The Teen Center will provide a t-shirt or shoes template. Teens can share their fashion masterpiece on Instagram @santacruzteencenter
Historical Park Tours with Ross Gibson
Join local historian Ross Gibson virtually as he shares the history of a few of our City’s beautiful parks. Tours will be released on social media and added to this page throughout July.

Virtual Tree Walk and Pollinator Tour
Head to the Parks & Recreation Youtube channel to follow Leslie Keedy, Parks and Recreation Urban Foresters, as she shows us these unique trees and plants. Explore some of the plants at Neary Lagoon and how they attract pollinators with Spencer Klinefelter from the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History.
Experience fireworks virtually wherever you are with Total AR. The Virtual Fourth of July firework display can be viewed starting on July 4 at 9pm-midnight. The app is free to download and use, no login required.

Wacky Water Day – To Go!
Pick up your Wacky Water “fun-day” kit for your family and take home or to your favorite park or beach to celebrate “Wacky Water Day” on July 18. We will distribute the kits from Louden Nelson Community Center on July 16 & 17 between 10:00 am-2:00 pm. We will instruct people to call or email ahead to request kits, beginning Monday, July 13. One kit per child, per household. We will make a total of 200 kits.
The Kits include:
· 1 Beach bucket and shovel
· 1 colorful ball sponge
· 1 Animal shaped rubber squirt toy
· 1 inflatable beach ball
· 2 dum dum suckers
· 5 deflated water balloons
· 1 P&R Logo sticker
· 1-2 temporary P&R tattoos
· 1 small Ziplock bag of popcorn kernels with stovetop cooking instructions
· 1 sheet of suggested water-based games and activities with directions
