SANTA CRUZ, Calif. — The City of Santa Cruz continues the Cedar Street Rehabilitation Project weekdays through Friday, May 31, with partial street closures and detours. The project, funded by Measure H and Measure D tax dollars and a Community Development Block Grant, is rehabilitating/reconstructing Cedar Street from Church Street to Laurel Street.

Travelers should expect delays while traffic control will be in effect with detours around the following construction work:

  • Friday, June 7, through Monday, June 10, the Cedar/Lincoln intersection will be paved.
  • On Monday, June 10, there will be saw-cutting work on Laurel Street from Blackburn Street to Walti Street.
  • On Tuesday, June 11, Cedar Street will be paved from Lincoln Street to Church Street. There will also be paving at the Cedar/Maple intersection.
  • On Wednesday, June 12, to Friday, June 14, utility boxes will be raised on Cedar Street from Lincoln Street to Church Street. Also, two driveways in City Parking Lot 5 will be replaced.

The Cedar Street Rehabilitation Project includes roadway excavation, the installation of hot mix asphalt pavement, Portland cement concrete, ADA compliant curb ramps, roadway striping, and storm drain and sanitary sewer improvements. The project is expected to conclude before summer.

The City apologizes for any inconvenience this construction work may cause and appreciates the public’s cooperation.  Any concerns or questions may be addressed to Project Manager Ricardo Valdés, at (831) 420-5198 or
