Relocating to a new area is a big change. Whether you’ve come across the country, or just up the coast a bit, getting to know a new city is always a challenge. Thank you for taking the time to acquaint yourself with not only how the city operates, but also your role as the newest member of the Santa Cruz community.

Santa Cruz has experienced a number of significant disasters but it also has a long-standing tradition of proactive planning and program implementation to mitigate and combat the effects of disasters.

You should know that like most cities, Santa Cruz encourages its citizens to prepare on an individual basis for disasters. This includes making an emergency preparedness kit, developing a communication plan with friends and family, and being knowledgeable about the area and local disasters.
