What are Parking Deficiency Fees?
Parking deficiency fees are spent exclusively on developing and operating downtown public parking, which serves downtown customers, employees, and residents. All public parking lots and garages have been purchased and developed using these funds. Currently the downtown parking programs provide over 1,800 parking spaces.

How are they calculated?
Parking deficiency fees are based on the following formula:

  • Business Area/Parking Standard = Required Spaces
  • Required Spaces - On-site spaces = Deficient Spaces
  • Deficient Spaces x Quarterly rate ($/space) = Fee

Example: 1,000 sq ft / 400 = 2.5 = (3 required spaces - 0 on-site spaces) x 85.00 = $255.00

For more information about parking deficiency fees, please refer to Resolution No. NS-29,538 or contact Brian Borguno, Parking Programs Manager at or 831-420-5184.
